In collaboration with City of Westminster College, we are excited to introduce you to our new programs:
Introduction to Fashion Design + English
This course will help you understand how designers undertake the fashion design process and will introduce you to the principles of fashion design.
This challenging course will help you learn how to express yourself confidently to produce your very own design sample.
And of course our English classes will help diving into local culture and improve English language level.
30 September to 11 November 2019
6 weeks There will be no class on 21 October due to half term
General English: 9 AM to 12:15 PM from Monday to Friday (Edgware Academy Campus)
Fashion design classes: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday evenings (City of Westminster College Paddington Green Campus)
Registration fee 120 GBP
- Minimum Intermediate level of English (CEFR B1)
- No previous experience is required.
- Students need to bring pencils, plain paper, cards, fabric samples.
The Fashion design block includes:
- Design research
- Understanding colour and fabric awareness
- Refining design ideas
- How to build a fashion collection
- Developing mood boards
- Basic sewing skills
- Cut out and make up a Design Sample
During this course, there will be the opportunity to accompany the tutor to Saville Row (or somewhere comparable). This is usually on a Saturday and is available to students who are able to attend. Previous visits have also included V&A exhibitions (Balenciaga), The London College of Fashion, London Fashion Week, fabric shops and tailors.
Students who complete at least 80% of the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance both from Edgware Academy and Westminster College.
