English + Acting for Beginners
A practical acting course created for those with little or no acting experience. Using a range of acting exercises and games, you will develop some fundamental and essential acting skills in areas such as; improvisation, creating characters, rehearsing with text and developing voice and body. The course will also include a introduction to acting to camera session in our dedicated TV studios.
You will have the opportunity to build your confidence and communication skills, develop your imagination and lose your inhibitions in a fun, safe and supportive group environment.
Topic: Introductions and building the group.
Acting exercises and fun drama games to free the imagination, develop spontaneity and build confidence.
Using improvisation tools and exercises, students will explore acting fundamentals such as wants and circumstance.
Students will also work towards developing vocal confidence.
From the physical larger than life, to more meaningful, truthful characters, participants will develop their skills by exploring a range of character building techniques and exercises.
Topic: Ways into text
Students will work on script analysis and develop a range of skills on how to break down text to reveal sub-text, character and relationships.

Topic: Introduction to Camera Acting Techniques Covering essentials such as camera angles and set-ups, hitting marks, continuity of action and spontaneity of performance, students will have the opportunity to gain valuable camera acting skills and techniques.
David Baker is an experienced actor, director, acting tutor and drama practitioner with over twenty years’ experience of working professionally in film, theatre and Radio and Television. He was an Artistic Associate and Director of Creative Learning at Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith and has also taught acting for Hammersmith and Fulham Adult Education Service and for companies such as Act-Up.
General English: 9 AM to 12:15 PM from Monday to Friday (Edgware Academy campus)
Acting classes: 7 PM to 9 PM Monday (City of Westminster College Paddington Green Campus)
Registration fee 120 GBP
Minimum Intermediate level of English (CEFR B1)
Suitable for beginners, no previous experience is required
Students who complete at least 80% of the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance both from Edgware Academy and Westminster College.
